Dr. Brehon also does a thorough foot analysis to ensure you are getting the support you need. All orthotics are custom made for each individual’s feet! They are a passive way to help your feet, knees and back feel more comfortable throughout the day. Most insurance companies cover orthotics, so check your coverage and get some additional support for your feet today!

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment that works by slowly stretching the spine, taking pressure off of compressed discs and vertebrae by creating a negative pressure in the disc area, and creating space around irritated nerves. This can greatly reduce pain in the low back or neck, or pain that radiates down the arms or legs. Initially thought to stretch the spine and allow herniated disc material to move back into the center of the disc, more research has shown that perhaps the more beneficial part of this particular treatment is that it works with the body’s imbibition mechanism. Because a disc has poor blood flow, a natural pump-like process called imbibition allows the body to bring oxygen and nutrients to the disc while removing metabolic waste products. This process helps the disc to rehydrate and can promote retraction of bulging and herniated disc material. Decompression sessions typically last between 20 and 40 minutes. The patient lies down on a comfortable treatment table and is secured by upper and lower harnesses. During this time the patient gets to relax! We encourage our clients to simply close their eyes and have a nap, or bring some music to listen to, as their individualized neck or low back decompression program works through a series of gentle pull-and-relax cycles. Treatment duration and frequency will depend on the severity and chronicity of the issue, and could require anywhere from 6-20 treatments. Spinal decompression is a treatment option for herniated discs (greater than 4 weeks old), facet syndrome, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves in the neck and lower back, and sciatica. Pregnant women, and people with failed low back surgeries, severe osteoporosis, severe spondylolisthesis, and artificial discs are NOT good candidates for this type of treatment. It is important that we perform an assessment and review of any prior diagnostic imaging reports (X-ray, CT, MRI) prior to your decompression treatment to ensure this treatment may be safe and effective for your health concern.
